Patrick Holder

R.A.

Patrick Holder received his early post secondary education at Syracuse University and the State University of New York at Buffalo. He completed his architectural studies at City University of New York and received a Bachelor of Architecture. He graduated at the top of his thesis class.

While at City College, Mr. Holder also enrolled in the Landscape Architectural program and received a Bachelor of Science in Landscape Architecture in 1986. He represented New York State at the 1984 International Design Conference in Aspen Colorado while in this program.

This diverse education enabled Mr. Holder to gain exposure to interesting architectural schemes and large urban planning and landscaping projects such as Battery Park City and Atlantic Terminal in New York. Thus, enhancing his capabilities to practice architecture as a holistic art.

His dual degree is a major asset when dealing with diverse scope of works requiring design cohesiveness between siting, planning and design of built and non-built environments. He sites his design of the Willovale Industrial Park / High Glen Shopping Center Master Plan as a classic example of how his educational and professional experiences in both disciplines will benefit the City of Harare for many years.

In 1996, Mr. Holder accepted a position as Senior Architect with Mwamuka, Mercuri and Associate Architects in Harare, Zimbabwe. This foreign post provided Mr. Holder with valued international exposure, specifically the management of large-scale projects with limited resources, a concentration on indigenous construction materials and construction techniques and fast-track construction programs. The post matured his professional growth to a level far exceeding his experience in years.
